Reserves are runners up

Preston's reserve team, like their youths, have had a remarkable turnaround this season. They haven't lost since October and clinched the title with the 3-2 win at Burnley during last week.

We looked to be coasting to the title by Christmas but the team was more settled then. Wes Fletcher went out on loan and then Alex MacDonald followed him. Both Michael King and Chris Anderson struggled with injury in the second part of the season and that certainly disrupted things.

More and more we've had to bring in players from the youth team but that in itself has been a bonus with the likes of first year apprentices Steven Hewitt and Tom Anderson coming in and doing really well.

We were comfortably in second place with a four point advantage over both Wrexham and Oldham and they were well clear of fourth place Morecambe.

Bury finished the season in bottom place. They ended with 11 points with the first four of them coming against us.

This season has proved to be the last at Burnley for four of the regular reserve team players. Defenders Nik Kudiersky and Chris Lynch and midfielder Chris Anderson (all second year professionals) have been released along with first year pro Michael King.

Below are the results from the last couple of weeks, the league's leading goalscorers, Burnley's goalscorers and links to the fixtures, results and league tables for both reserve and youth teams.

The players pictured below are Chris Lynch and Nik Kudiersky (top) and Chris Anderson and Michael King (bottom).
