Mehdi Lazaar - on the scoresheet

Lazaar got his first taste of first team football last night at Gigg Lane and was on the mark for the Clarets today, giving us the lead after a link up between Dominic Knowles and Ross Wilson.

Liam Boswell, also a substitute last night, then scored twice for Bury before Ofia, currently on trial at Turf Moor, scored to make the score 2-2. However, Andy Bishop netted from the penalty spot to win the game for the visitors.

Burnley included no less than five trialists and there were five  members of the youth squad involved, goalkeeper Josh Cook, defenders Aryn Williams, Alex Coleman and Tom Anderson and midfielder Steven Hewitt.

Also involved was Alex-Ray Harvey who has featured in both of the first team games so far in pre season.

There was a familiar face in the Bury team too, that of Michael King. He was released by the Clarets at the end of last season and is hoping to win a contract at Gigg Lane.

This was the first of a number of games for the development squad in pre-season and, as we reported earlier in the week, the next one is at Garforth Town next Wednesday.
