Four get youth deals

The four are goalkeeper Callum Jakovlevs, right back Charlie Holt, midfielder Nathan Lowe and forward Lewis Nuttall. All four have impressed in the under-16 team and when called up to play for the youth team.

Jakovlevs has been the permanent substitute goalkeeper at youth level this season in the continuing absence of Ben Woodhead whilst the other three have all played and all had starts with Nuttall also bagging his first youth team goal in the 2-1 win against Rochdale at the beginning of October.

It might be good news for them, but it is coupled with disappointing news for six more players who have been told they will not be offered deals. They are Dalian Barker, Matthew Cook, Danny Mukuna, Jordan Scott, Jack Truelove and Will Kinder and we wish them the very best in finding new clubs.

On confirming the offers to the four youngster, assistant Centre of Excellence manager John Francis said: "The four of them have done very well and we hope they go on to good things when they join the full time youth ranks.

"For those that have been released, we wish them all the best and hope they can forge careers elsewhere."
