Both sides have made good starts to the season and Preston spent some weeks at the top of the league. During that period they beat the young Clarets 3-1 but it was Burnley, winning the return fixture 3-2, who knocked them off the top.

Whilst the league table is put away for this week, taking a look shows that the two sides are very closely matched with Burnley, in second place, just above third place Preston by one point.

That defeat at Preston was our first defeat of the season and started a run of three successive losses. Apart from that it has been wins all the way with eight league victories and the Lancashire FA Youth Cup win over Accrington.

Terry Pashley has made two changes to the side that scored a 2-1 win over Oldham last Saturday. Alex Coleman, rested last week, comes back in the centre of defence to partner Jack Errington. That means captain Tom Anderson will sit this one out with Coleman expected to take the armband.

Cameron Howieson missed last week's game because of an ankle injury picked up in the cup win at Accrington, but he's fit to return and replaces Jason Gilchrist who joins Anderson on the bench which also includes under-16 goalkeeper Callum Jakovlevs and James Taylor who returns after a number of weeks out injured.

The team is: Josh Cook, Aryn Williams, Alex Coleman, Jack Errington, Luke Conlan, Adam Evans, Steven Hewitt, Archie Love, Alex Mullin, Cameron Howieson, Shay McCartan. Subs: Callum Jakovlevs, Tom Anderson, James Taylor, Jason Gilchrist.

The game will be played at Preston's Springfields training ground and kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
