Clarets youths relying on North End today

It's looking very much like a three horse race for the title now and Vale have inched ahead by a point after their big win on Wednesday. Right behind them are us and then Rochdale who are behind us only on goal difference.

Whilst Burnley face Walsall at Gawthorpe it's a blank date for Rochdale. A win for us would see us go top if Port Vale fail to win and they have a tough assignment at Preston against a North End side who have won eight and drawn two of their last ten games to lift them to fourth.

There are six games left for each of the top three and we have three of ours at home and three away. For tomorrow's home game against Walsall we are, as we reported yesterday, without Shay McCartan who is on international duty with the Northern Ireland Under-17s.

Terry Pashley has named a strong team that shows four changes from the team that beat Wigan a week ago. Curtis Woods, Dean Overson and Neil Yadolahi replace Aryn Williams, Tom Anderson and Steve Edwards in defence and James Taylor replaces Tommy Taylor.

The team is: Josh Cook, Curtis Woods, Dean Overson, Neil Yadolahi, Ed Williams, Ross Wilson, Joe McKee, Dave Lynch, Mehdi Lazaar, James Taylor, Joe Jackson. Subs: Steve Edwards, Aryn Williams, Archie Love, Alex Mullin, Adam Evans.

The player photographed is Dean Overson.
