The good news for them, and for us, was that both Oldham and Blackpool, the two sides with the same number of points as us, were both beaten away from home against Stockport and Wrexham respectively.
'Dale still lead by five points ahead of Port Vale, who like ourselves had no game, with us, Oldham and Blackpool just a point further away. The games in hand for the chasers will determine just how close they get to Rochdale with Port Vale able to pass them by a point and Burnley able to go ahead of them on goal difference.
Walsall's win over Rochdale edges them closer to the top clubs whilst one to watch is Preston who have recovered from a disastrous start and are now reasonably well positioned with games in hand. They beat Tranmere and there were also wins for Morecambe and Wigan with the remaining game between Macclesfield and Bury drawn.
Burnley play one of their games in hand tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Accrington before facing Shrewsbury at Gawthorpe next Saturday morning.
