Clarets set for FA Youth Cup action

Terry Pashley - we want to win this game

Just as is the case with the FA Cup, we come into the competition at the third round stage and face a side who have already battled their way through six rounds to reach get to this tie. So far Boston have beaten Lincoln United, Mickleover Sports, Pinxton, Stourport Swifts along with league clubs Burton Albion and Bradford City.

Terry Pashley take a full strength squad with them to Lincolnshire with goalkeeper Ben Woodhead and forward James Taylor missing. Those two players have had their scholarships extended due to injuries and are now too old to play in the FA Youth Cup.

The only other player unavailable is Irish midfielder Luke Gallagher as we await completing his registration when the transfer window opens in January.

Pash said ahead of the game: "Our aim, like every cup game, is to get through the tie and get to the next round. Like every game, myself and Faz will be looking at individual performances to see that they are still improving.

"It's about getting the that balance between performance and the result but the FA Youth Cup is a prestigious competition for the players, especially when they get to be second years, and I won't hide the fact we want to win this game."

Boston are a surprise package after reaching this round and Pash added: "You don't know what you are coming up against but I have no doubt if our boys play to their capabilities we will have a more than even chance of getting a result.

"We have been playing consistently well for the past couple of months. We are on a good run of form with a lot of confidence."

Clarets Mad will provide goal updates on the message board with a full report of the game to follow tomorrow morning.

Burnley will select from: Josh Cook, Aryn Williams, Luke Conlan, Tom Anderson, Alex Coleman, Jack Errington, Steven Hewitt, Archie Love, Adam Evans, Cameron Howieson, Alex Mullin, Shay McCartan, Jason Gilchrist, Charlie Holt, Lewis Nuttall, Callum Jakovlevs.
