Unfortunately, as we won by one goal so Rochdale won by two and that leaves us still three points behind them with one to play their goal difference now ten better than ours.
Rochdale will be champions should they beat Tranmere on Saturday but their closest rivals are neither Burnley, nor Port Vale who were also top recently, but Preston.
Port Vale could only draw with Wrexham but Preston scored an incredible 17 goals over the weekend to go second. Six defeats in their first seven games; they've since won 15 and drawn 1 without a solitary defeat.
Anything Rochdale can do, so can Preston and they matched that 9-0 score against Blackpool on Saturday. Yesterday they followed that up with another eight in an 8-2 win against Morecambe.
Somehow I can 't see them slipping up at Stockport on Saturday in their last game so that means we'll be looking for a win at Wrexham to give us a good chance of finishing in third place ahead of Port Vale.
The latest results are all shown below along with this weekend's fixtures and the Burnley goalscorers.
