Blackpool clear at the top of the Alliance

The win might have been a fortunate one, but for a side that really struggled last season at youth level it really is a good start to the season with three wins out of three, with the other two coming against last season's top two, Preston and Rochdale.

Port Vale and Shrewsbury were the other two that went into Saturday's games with two wins, but both dropped points in 2-2 draws against Wrexham and Walsall respectively.

There were four draws in total with Morecambe, Stockport and Wigan the other winners with no one winning by more than one goal. Stockport's win took them off the bottom of the league. They went into their game against Macclesfield without a point but the result has seen Macc take bottom place with one point, behind both Bury and Tranmere on goal difference.

There isn't a full programme this week with just four matches being played. One is ours against Rochdale with the game kicking off at Gawthorpe at 11:00 this coming Saturday. Rochdale currently have four points, one more than us, from three games, and are expected to have another good season.
