Big win for youth team

Jason Gilchrist - two goals

Burnley played against a strong wind in the first half but were still the better side and came closest to a goal through central defender and captain Tom Anderson who headed over.

The second half was a different story as the young Clarets dominated and scored five goals in a devastating spell.

Jason Gilchrist opened the scoring in the second minute of the second half with a searing shot into the top corner and that was quickly followed with a second from Shay McCartan.

With just nine second half minutes gone it was 3-0 and a second goal for Gilchrist who got a block on a clearance from Blackpool which rebounded into the net.

Aryn Williams, playing at right back, got the fourth when he scored from close range following a McCartan cross, and McCartan matched Gilchrist by getting a second himself, heading in after a Gilchrist effort came back off the bar.

That's four wins in four for the lads and this week they face Accrington Stanley in the Lancs FA Youth Cup before a home game next Saturday against Oldham.

The team today was: Josh Cook, Aryn Williams, Alex Coleman, Tom Anderson, Jack Errington (Luke Conlan 62), Cameron Howieson (Lewis Nuttall 62), Steven Hewitt, Archie Love, Alex Mullin (Adam Evans 45), Shay McCartan, Jason Gilchrist. Subs not used: Callum Jakovlevs, Charlie Holt.
