The charity was set up in 2000 by British social entrepreneur Tom Vernon. He recognised how sport, when combined with education, could have the power to inspire and could help provide children from extreme poverty with the opportunity to build a better life for themselves and their families.

It has been a huge success and fifteen years on their under-18 academy team has embarked on an eight week tour of Europe which includes games in both Portugal and the United Kingdom.

The tour will see the youngsters play against such as Liverpool, Manchester City and Benfica and today they played their fourth game on English soil.

They have already beaten Preston, Rotherham and Fleetwood and this afternoon added to that with a 3-0 win against the young Clarets in a game played at the Etihad Campus, the new Man City training centre.
