Williamson is first casualty

It cannot come as too much of a surprise, after starting last season like a house on fire with four wins and a draw in the first five fixtures, it has been relegation form since and they survived the drop last season by just three points.

This season started with a surprise 2-1 win at Reading on the opening day of the season with goals from Micky Evans and Nick Chadwick but there has been little success since.

They followed it up with a home draw against Watford and all four league games since have ended in defeat which leaves them in 21st place in the league.

The Home Park fans will hardly be disappointed, speaking to some of them last April at the Turf they were far from happy with Williamson and with his style of football.

He has, according to the Argyle board, been served notice and his place as manager has been taken with immediate effect by his number two Jocky Scott until such time as a replacement is found.

That could just be next week when the Clarets are due at Plymouth.
