We've got a top class goalkeeper

Burns returned to Palace last season to work as goalkeeping coach for his old Palace team mate the Legend who had taken over as the new manager, and Burns, having worked with Kiraly, rates him very highly.

"I'm very disappointed he's left Palace," Burns said. "As a goalkeeping coach I would have liked to have seen him stay. He is a massive bargain for Burnley. He did a great job at Crystal Palace and I know there are a lot of people here who are sad to see him leave. He's one we will definitely miss."

It's praise indeed from Burns who rates Kiraly as one of the top three goalkeepers he's coached in twenty years in the role, and in that twenty years it includes working with other internationals such as Kasey Keller and Nigel Spink.

Burns said of Kiraly: "He's a smashing lad although he can be a bit quiet. I think he could be player of the year this year at Burnley, he's one of those players the fans will love. They will really take to him and I'm sure he'll get them plenty of points.

"He's very good at crosses and his kicking is exceptional. He's a good all round keeper and has won seventy international caps with more to come. He will be a good acquisition."

Burns said he had really enjoyed working with him over the past year and added: "There's only one Gabor Kiraly, that's for sure. He's a smashing player and I could not fault him in any way. He's a top class goalkeeper and an absolutely top class fellow.

"He's very confident and very likeable. He's at training every day, he never misses matches and he never gets injured. I think he's at the right age and this is his time. I think he's got at least five good seasons ahead of him."

Burnley fans will get their first opportunity to see Kiraly in action this coming Saturday at Accrington where he is expected to feature in the game.
