Warnock grabs an Orr

It's over six years since Stan Ternent brought Orr from Newcastle in a loan deal that lasted just one month. He cost us nothing with then Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson agreeing to continue to pay Orr's wages.

He made only one start, in a defeat at Millwall, but Ternent had seen enough in the midfielder to decide on signing him permanently that summer.

Orr eventually signed for Bristol City during the summer of 2004 where he was converted into a right back. He's gone on to play over 250 for them.

January 2009 saw Burnley try to bring him back to Turf Moor but instead Orr signed an extension to his contract at Ashton Gate, but he's now jumped at the chance to join QPR, one of the promotion favourites.

He said on completing the deal: "I've wanted this move ever since I became aware of QPR's interest some time ago. It was an easy decision to make and that's not being disrespectful to City. I've just got a great feeling about QPR and the ambition that is here to achieve things.

"My number one aim is to achieve a lifetime ambition of playing Premier League football and I genuinely believe I can do that here. The whole place is geared up for success. The manager, the players, the staff, it's a club on the up as far as I'm concerned.

"QPR has always had an outstanding history and tradition. Just look at some of the players that have played here over the years. There have been some fantastic players and personalities and in my view they are a club that belongs in the top division."
