Ward in Ireland squad

Last updated : 30 August 2015 By Tony Scholes

Dubliner Ward has won29 caps for his country, five of them since joining the Clarets in August last year and will be looking to add to that number despite currently being out of the Burnley team.

The first of the two games is the one against Gibraltar and will be played in Faro, Portugal on Friday 4th September before they return home three days later to face Georgia at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

It's going to be a very difficult task for them to qualify. They are currently fourth of six in Group D on nine points, that's five less than leaders Poland and four less than Germany who are second. Scotland are currently in third place with eleven points.

However, they will be favourites to win these two games. Whipping boys Gibraltar have no points from six games, have scored once and conceded 34 goals. The only points Georgia have won came against Gibraltar.
