Walsall win sees a Claret in the Team of the Week

Is it Robbie Blake or Neil Wood both of whom had such good games at Walsall? Or Mark McGregor who played so well both at Walsall and in the home defeat against Watford?

No it is goalkeeper Brian Jensen. Now had they selected him two weeks earlier after the win at Bradford it would have been no surprise to anyone but on a weekend when he made few saves it does seem a strange decision.

He made a couple of good saves at Walsall, one of which was recovering his own mistake, and although he did nothing wrong in the Watford game there was no opportunity for him to star.

Quite how they have come up with this one shouldn’t be a surprise though, remember earlier in the season Walsall midfielder Darren Wrack found himself winning a place in goal in the 2nd Division team.

The full team this week is:

Brian Jensen (Burnley), Shaun Barker (Rotherham), Dave Wetherall (BRBC), Gerry Taggart (Stoke), Mark Hudson (Crystal Palace), Neil Emblen (Walsall), Micah Hyde (Watford), Harry Ntimban-Zeh (Franchise), Jason Koumas (West Brom), Julian Joachim (Coventry), Andy Johnson (Crystal Palace).
