Vossen goes home after failing to settle

That was until around 6 p.m. this evening when the transfer was finally confirmed with Burnley confirming that the Belgian had returned home after just under eight weeks with the club, and confirmation was also given that the club had not lost out financially having recouped the same amount we'd paid KRC Genk for him, believed to be €3 million.

The lack of information during the day has led to all different stories surfacing but the reason for is quick return is down to him and his new bride struggling to settle for life in England away from family.

Vossen said: "I am very sorry for the fans of Burnley. The move to England on a permanent basis has been tough for me, mostly for family reasons. My wife and I were married this summer and immediately have had to leave family and friends behind.

"I had no problems at Burnley or with the people and fans at the club, who made me feel very welcome and for which I thank them. However, after discussing things with my family, I feel it is better to make the move now, for the benefit of both parties.

"I would like to wish Burnley Football Club every success in the future."

Vossen made his competitive debut for the Clarets in the season opener at Leeds and his farewell came at Ashton Gate two days ago when he replaced Andre Gray for the last twenty minutes of the game.

Given the circumstances, it is certainly better for both parties that he's moved on soon rather than later. Burnley have reciprocated Vossen's comments about our club and have wished him every success back in Belgium.
