I think yesterday morning's news that Chris Powell had lost his job at Huddersfield was a bit of a shock, but I can't imagine anyone was surprised when news broke last night that QPR had parted company with Chris Ramsey.
Huddersfield had played really well on Tuesday night apparently at Reading, They twice led and were only a few minutes away from a victory before having to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw.
The claims from Huddersfield are that Powell's style of play is the problem and that is certainly something I heard from two Town fans walking back into town after last Saturday's game against them. They claimed he was too conservative and would never go looking for a win, even at home where he was always content to hang on to what he had in a game.
Doug Thomson in the Huddersfield Examiner wrote: "Chris Powell is a decent and likeable man but, ultimately, pedestrian performances led to dropping crowds for a football club looking to balance the books."
Huddersfield have a record for moving on managers since Dean Hoyle took control of the club and Powell has followed the path already trodden by Simon Grayson, Mark Robins and Lee Clark under Hoyle.
Latest suggestions are that David Wagner could be the new man. Who? Wagner is a coach at Borussia Dortmund and was expected to join the Klopp revolution at Anfield. Although German born and with a career that's exclusively been in Germany, he won eight international caps for the USA between 1996 and 1998.
Neil Warnock is a former Huddersfield boss and I don't think it surprised anyone at all last night when QPR confirmed he would be in interim control as Chris Ramsey cleared his desk. Ramsey took over last year when Harry Redknapp left. He couldn't keep them up but was given the opportunity to carry on this season. It never looked to me as if it was going to be a long term commitment and once Warnock (or Colin to his friends) arrived a couple of weeks ago the writing was on the wall.
Speaking to a friend of mine last night I said that it wouldn't be long before someone decided to point out that both Powell and Ramsey are black and would come up with some unnecessary and some unwanted comments.
Today, anti-racism campaigner Troy Townsend has described it as a disheartening day for black coaches. "To lose both managers sends out a really strong message to those aspiring to get on this journey," he said.
"People will look and thing 'Is it worth it? Is it because of the colour of their skin? Or is it because they are bad managers?' I know people will say results are not right but there is a lot more to it than that. Today is disheartening without a doubt."
I read that on the BBC. You'd think they'd have more about them than to give this bloke air time. He's Andros Townsend's dad and is an education and development manager at Kick It Out.
Former Claret Frank Sinclair responded via Twitter as below.
Sorry but can not agree with This Statement I coach & if anything it's encouraging these guys got opportunities ⚽️ https://t.co/VdR9HIs5Wu

Yes of course you want more BMA representation in The English Pyramid but results determine how long you are in a job full stop not colour.

As for the midweek results; we were one of only three clubs to concede a home goal. Brentford and Reading were the other two, both conceding two. It's a pity Brentford didn't keep a clean sheet; it would have been nice to be top of the league.
It's incredibly tight up there. Had we drawn we'd have been down to fifth, but such is the table now that the top five will remain the top five going into the international break although there may be a swapping of places.
Likewise, the bottom three will remain the bottom three. Bolton and Charlton both have ten points with Rotherham having one less. Fourth from bottom are Bristol City and they've now gone up to 14 following their 1-0 win against Wolves. With Preston, Leeds and MK also winning, it's left the three at the bottom those points behind with them all losing.
Will there be any more managerial changes to come soon? We've had six already, 25% of the league, with Marinus Dijkhuizen, Uwe Rösler, Guy Luzon and Steve Evans having already vacated their seats. Evans is back with Leeds and he's won a game, that should give him another couple of weeks.
As for Leeds, the farce gets better doesn't it? "I'll sell to the fans," said Cellino last week. "Oh no I won't," he's now said. This is the nightmare the Leeds fans thought he was going to an end, the nightmare started by Ridsdale with Bates the nightmare himself.
I quite like the idea of Ridsdale, Bates and Cellino marching on together even though they do sound like the name of a dodgy firm of solicitors.
