Trotman joins Huddersfield

Trotman has played very little football for Preston since his £500,000 move to Deepdale from Oldham in January 2008 and this will be his third loan. Last season he spent time with Colchester United and in the first half of this season he played regularly for Southampton.

He scored twice for the Saints (both in 3-1 wins) to add to a goal he got for Preston against Morecambe in the Carling Cup. He's also picked up his share of yellow cards and has already collected six this season.

Neal will now spend the rest of the season in a promotion battle with Huddersfield and their manager Lee Clark said on signing him: "Neal is a very powerful and quick player and he attacks the ball very well in both penalty areas with his head and his feet.

"He is what you would call a proper, out and out defender. He gives us further good options in the backline."
