Supporters ready to set up Trust

Last updated : 16 January 2004 By Clarets Mad

The group, including the editor of Clarets Mad, has been planning this for some time alongside the Government backed Supporters Direct and have already had preliminary discussions with both the Club and with the representatives from the Club’s numerous Supporters’ Groups.

The main aims of the Trust should it be formed would be:

1. The establishment of a permanent and meaningful dialogue between supporters of Burnley Football Club and the directors of the Club. The purpose of which is to ensure that supporters needs are fully understood by the club.

2. To help secure the future of Burnley Football Club for future generations of supporters through the purchase of shares which will be held in trust.

A spokesman for the group of fans told Clarets Mad, "This really could and should be the beginning of a completely new chapter in the history of our great Football Club. Our Trust should be seen as a reaction to and an antidote to all that has gone wrong in football since the introduction of the Premier League back in 1992. Here is an amazing opportunity for Burnley fans to make a real contribution to the running of our club, and secure its future."

The group, along with Supporters Direct, will meet with the Burnley Supporters’ Group representatives on Thursday next week and will then hold further discussions with the Club. At this point it is hoped that it will be all systems go and a Trust can be put in place as soon as possible to support Burnley Football Club in the short, medium and long term.

The Clarets Mad web site will certainly be backing the idea all the way and there will be more news as and when it comes in. It is certain to be discussed on our Message Board so it will be worth visiting to get the views of other fans and leave your own views.

Please continue to support this great club of ours in any way you can. Give them your support tomorrow against West Brom if at all possible.

COME ON YOU CLARETS
