Signings on their way

Darel Russell - one of the players linked with a move to Burnley
There were strong rumours yesterday that we would get the Martin Paterson deal sorted and then bring in Celtic's Derek Riordan, a long term target of manager Owen Coyle, but this morning the links are pointing to Scotland still and also to Norfolk.

Last week Coyle confirmed that we would not be pursuing Andrew Driver any longer. We'd had two bids turned down and it was a case of looking at other targets. But this morning he's back in the frame and believed to be one of the players Coyle will get with the Lafferty money.

Also linked, and for the first time in weeks, is Norwich midfielder Darel Russell. His name was thrown into the ring around the same time as Martin Paterson, but there's been no suggestion of an offer and as quickly as his name appeared it just as quickly disappeared.

But it will be Driver and Russell along with Paterson, if we can believe the latest speculation, and just to add to that there will be a mystery loan player on his way. No clues as to who it could be, but as mystery is a mystery. Excellent reporting though, "Burnley will sign a mystery loan player". That's left us in no doubt.

We're back in training in eight days time, there's no doubt that players will need to come in. Paterson looks set to be the first, we'll now have to wait and see who follows.
