Shandy on the move

Shandy signed for Unibond Premier League club Spennymoor United in the summer after ending last season on loan at York City. He scored eight goals for the Durham club and was their player of the month in November when he scored four goals in five games.

Just before the weekend’s matches he was on the move again and even nearer to his birthplace of North Shields when he signed for Gateshead who play in the Unibond First Division.

Gateshead play in the international athletics stadium and that’s where he made his debut on Saturday, scoring in the last minute of a 2-0 win against Rossendale United. The Tynesiders had been in front from the 13th minute with a goal from a second ex-Claret, Mark Rasmussen.

The match of the day in the Unibond though was at Colwyn Bay where Jimmy Mullen’s current Claret & Blue Army were trailing 3-0 at home to Lincoln United with just nine minutes to go. Incredibly they were level with five minutes to go and then held on for a point in a 3-3 draw.
