Season not over yet for Ward, Lafferty and Vokes

Ward was the first to get the news when he was named in Martin O'Neill's provisional squad for the friendly against England at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin when he could come up against fellow Claret Heaton. He'll be hoping to win a 30th cap for his country having made five appearances during the last season since joining the Clarets.

Lafferty was next. He was named by Michael O'Neill for two Northern Ireland games. The first is a friendly against Qatar which, for some reason, will be played this coming Sunday at Crewe's Gresty Road with a 5 p.m. kick off. Northern Ireland then face Romania in a Euro qualifier at Windsor Park on Saturday 13th June.

He's only won one cap since last June, taking his total to 11, but he lost his place due to not having had much game time at Burnley. However, his loan to Rotherham got him back in the squad and he returned to Turf Moor having played eleven times for the South Yorkshire club.

At lunchtime today, Vokes took our full squad call ups to four when he was included in the Welsh squad by Chris Coleman for their key qualifier against Belgium on 13th June in Cardiff. Vokes won his first cap in March for a year after recovering from his knee injury and Coleman was eager to get him back into the squad.

If he was to start it would be his first start for Wales since March 2014 when he scored in a 3-1 friendly win against Iceland.
