Just three weeks ago we run a campaign called ‘Take a scarf to the Turf' to help bring some colour and atmosphere to a full house ground for the televised game against Grimsby.

Reserve team supremo - Ronnie Jepson
It was a very successful campaign and had the full backing of the club who certainly managed at least one extra scarf sale, from myself, because of their support. We were grateful to the club, to the local media and to all the other independent web sites who gave us great support with the campaign and advertised it for us.

So having had that success we should probably have settled down quietly and been pleased with ourselves that it worked. Not on your life.

Now we are at it again – but this time you don't even need to bring your scarf with you. All we are asking you to do is bring yourself for next week's reserve team game against Preston North End.

So if you want to support the lads in the reseved and if you want to support the campaign then;

ROLL UP FOR THE RESERVES

Goalkeeper - Luigi Cennamo
The reserve team are having one of their best seasons for some time and are playing some attractive football under new boss Ronnie Jepson. They are currently fifth in the Avon Insurance Premier Division and have only slipped down from third because of our games in hand.

This week we recorded a fantastic 5-2 win against Wolves away against a very experienced Wolves team that included the likes of Andy Sinton, George Ndah, Cedric Roussel and Adam Proudlock.

We have some exciting youngsters at the club now and it will be a chance for you to see players such as Earl Davis, Joel Pilkington, Andrew Waine, Mark Rasmussen and Anthony Shandran. These could well be the first team players of the future. Don't miss this opportunity to take a look at them now.

I think they deserve your support for their efforts this season, I think they deserve a lot more support than they are getting. Stan Ternent has said that he would love to see Burnley's youth policy back to where it was in the 1960s. That's when we had 5,000 plus crowds for the reserve games. We get nothing like that now and we don't expect to but wouldn't it be marvellous if we could hit 1,000 for next week's derby against Preston.

There may be football on the television, you can always record Coronation Street but get your coat on, get your scarf around your neck, pick up your season ticket and let's see a bumper crowd.

When you go to the Turf tomorrow for the Stockport game then tell your mates about this idea, persuade them to come down. The more we can get the better it will be. It doesn't even cost a lot. If you are a season ticket holder then you can get on for free, if not then it is just £3.

I'm not sure how many do normally turn up, the attendances are no longer announced, but it is not very many. Let's see how close we can get it to 1,000.

So don't forget;
