Renny Smith is latest young recruit

To be honest I'd not heard of him until this afternoon. I knew the number 8 from the Sheffield game, who had impressed me so much, was from Arsenal but I had no idea of his name.

But this is very definitely him and today he's signed a three year deal with us.

He's 18 years of age and can also play in a defensive position as well as in the centre of midfield where he impressed so much in that friendly.

Although born in Epsom, he has played for Austria at youth level through qualifying via his grandfather and has played three times for them.

Having completed his move to Burnley, he said: "I got a call from Burnley to say they were interested in me and they said to come along for a week. I played in the game against Sheffield FC and after the game they said they were happy with my performance, so here I am.

"It's great to be here, as Burnley are a team that want to get back to the Premier League and hopefully in future years I can add something to the squad."

Smith becomes the third recent signing for the development squad, following on from Dan Agyei and Luke Hendrie who have arrived from Wimbledon and Derby.
