Reid lands coaching role at Reading

Reading boss Steve Clarke, who was head coach at West Brom into Reid's last season at the Hawthorns, has been making backroom changes, bringing in four new staff, today.

They included a physiotherapist, a kit manager, former Wimbledon goalkeeper Dave Beasant as goalkeeping coach and Reid who will be the club's new first team coach.

Clarke said of the appointment: "Steven Reid will replace Eamonn Dolan on my first team coaching staff and Eamonn will revert back to his full time job as head of our academy.

"Steven Reid is someone that I came across at West Brom where he was a valued senior member of my playing staff and immediately I could see that he had the right temperament and characteristics to be a successful coach.

"Kevin Keen has been by my side for a few seasons and we thought that it would be good for us to alter the dynamic of the coaching staff with a younger coach. Steven will bring a hunger, freshness and enthusiasm to the club that I feel is needed."

Reid was with the Clarets for just one season but made only eight league appearances with only one of them, at West Brom, from the start. He announced his retirement from the playing side just before the last game of the season and said he would like to get a coaching role.

He's since been continuing with his badges and has recently got his 'A' licence prior to this appointment at Reading.
