Pulis wants Gifton

Suggestions are that there is a swap loan deal on the cards with the Clarets taking former Everton striker Nick Chadwick, who has not had the greatest of success since joining the Pilgrims from the Premiership club earlier in the year.

Gifton opted not to stay at Stoke when Pulis offered him a new contract in the summer and made the move to the Turf but after a number of poor performances he has lost his place in the side recently and has played just one of the last four first team games.

He’s been on the bench in all of those other games, all of which have been won, but whether Steve Cotterill would be prepared to let him go so soon remains to be seen as he continues to build the Clarets’ squad.

It was February of this year when Bobby Williamson signed Chadwick in a £250,000 deal from Everton but the 22 year-old has scored just twice in twenty-four appearances, the last of his goals was their last minute winner at Reading on the opening day of the season.

Pulis singled him out last week for his lack of fitness and said he would discuss the situation with the board, and the new manager is ready to take action. He’s already got rid of central defender Taribo West this week after just four league appearances, the last of which came against Burnley recently.

With no games this week there is no urgency but if this is likely to happen then it would be no surprise to see the deal done by the time we play Leeds a week tomorrow.
