Police called off the reserves

It all seemed strange given that we were more than happy to play a reserve game on the same night the first team were in Carling Cup action against Hartlepool, and information passed to myself suggested that there were security reasons surrounding the decision.

Now, the voice of Burnley Alan Nixon has confirmed that this was the reason and also that the police actually wanted the game played behind closed doors rather than in front of any supporters at Accrington's Crown Ground, an idea the Premier League were not happy with.

The situation as I believe now is that the game will go ahead in December in front of restricted numbers with tickets being issued to both sets of supporters.

There seemed a very simple solution to me, play the game at Turf Moor rather than at Accrington, but this situation is a farce when we are now not able to stage our reserve games for such reasons.

It's an incredible situation, and this follows on from the bus nonsense forced on us again for the first team game at Ewood Park. Maybe the police have hit the panic button following the West Ham v Millwall game but it really is beyond the imagination to see reserve games moved for fear of any crowd trouble.
