Player shortage means young reserve team

Matthew O'Neill hoping to impress with a first team squad place up for grabs
Stan said today that he has only fifteen players available to him on Saturday with Paul Cook, Gordon Armstrong, Steve Davis, Brad Maylett, Dimitri Papadopoulos and Gareth Taylor all missing and with that in mind says he cannot risk any of his squad in tonight’s reserve team game.

It does though give some of the younger players the opportunity to impress because one of them will have to take a place on the bench at Derby on Saturday to make up the sixteen.

The reserves will line up tonight: James Salisbury, Andy Leeson, Earl Davis, Liam Eves, Paul Scott, Mark Rasmussen, Joel Pilkington, Andrew Waine, Matthew O’Neill, Richard Chaplow, Steven Richardson. Subs: Sean Blakey, Gary Carter, Danny Pitham, Robert Grimes, Ryan Townsend.

There will be no such lack of experience in the Blades’ team though and Neil Warnock has named a very experienced three man attack of Laurens Ten Heuvel, Wayne Allison and Mr. Karren Brady (Paul Peschisolido).

They also include Australian trialist Jason Dimozantos who has been training with them for six weeks and are looking to extend their unbeaten start to the season that has seen them pick up a point from a draw at Tranmere and beat Walsall at home, well at Chesterfield where the home games are now played.

Sheffield United's team is: Ben Scott, Rob Nugent, Colin Cryan, Jason Dimozantos, Adam Baum, Nick Montgomery, Jean-Phillipe Javary, Grant Smith, Wayne Allison, Laurens Ten Heuvel, Paul Peschisolido. Subs: Tyrone Thompson, Lee Thompson, Lee Featherstone, Lewis Killeen, Chris Glarvey.
