Danny Lafferty gets late call for Northern Ireland

He was the only Burnley player called up for the game with both Michael Duff, currently injured, and Danny Lafferty missing out. However, withdrawals have now seen Lafferty added to the squad and he'll be hoping to win his second cap having played in the friendly against Holland.

Already involved in international duty is young professional Luke Conlan. He's in the Northern Ireland squad this week for the UEF European Under 19 Championship qualifying round.

With Shay McCartan currently out injured, Conlan is our sole representative as Northern Ireland face the Czech Republic tonight, Greece on Friday and finally Moldova next Monday.

For any Burnley fans in Northern Ireland who want to take in the games, the first two are at Stangmore Park, Dungannon with 7:00 p.m. kick offs and the third is at Shamrock Park, Portadown, kicking off at 12:00 noon.

Two younger Burnley players, goalkeeper Conor Mitchell and defender Cameron Dummigan, both first year scholars at Turf Moor, will be on their way to Estonia at the end of the month to play in the four team tournament as part of the UEFA European Under 17 Championship qualifiers.

They face games against Wales, Estonia and England on 21st, 23rd and 26th October respectively. The first and third games will be played in the Kadriorg Stadium and the Estonia game in the Lilleküla Stadium, both of which are in Tallinn.

For both of them it will be an opportunity to play some competitive football as neither, along with Evan Galvin from the Republic of Ireland, can play competitively for Burnley as we continue to await international clearance.
