O'Driscoll was the longest serving of the 24 Championship managers having left Bournemouth for Doncaster in early September 2006, just over five years ago. He won promotion in 2008 and has kept them in the Championship in each of the last three seasons.

This season has proved to be a difficult one with only one point won so far, that in a home draw against Bristol City and they've scored just two league goals, but it is not just this season, they have won only twice since New Year's Day, beating Burnley 1-0 on 1st February and Derby 3-1 four weeks later.

Earlier this week the club vowed to stand by O'Driscoll and only yesterday allowed him to bring in Cardiff's former Preston striker Jon Parkin on loan.

However, this morning, they have confirmed that O'Driscoll, along with his assistant Richard O'Kelly, have been relieved of their duties with Wrexham boss Dean Saunders taking charge for tomorrow's game against Crystal Palace.

Saunders has helped Wrexham to a good start in this season's Blue Square Premier League and they are currently second in the table, behind Luton Town on goal difference, one of four clubs on twenty points. Doncaster have not confirmed his appointment as yet as new manager, only to confirm he'll be in charge for this weekend's game.

Today's change leaves Kenny Jackett at Millwall as the longest serving Championship boss. He was appointed in November 2007.
