No new late signings

It had been believed for a while that there was no chance of bringing anyone in, but the manager targeted some players this week which certainly included a striker at a Premier League club.

However, it came to nothing in the end with Coyle saying: "With the group we've got, we have such a tight unit that you have to be careful with the dynamics of the squad, in terms of who you bring in.

"I tried for one or two top players to try and help us get over the line, but they have to be the right type to fit in."

That means we'll play out the remainder of the season with a squad of twenty players which is currently reduced to nineteen with the injury to Steven Thompson which will keep him out of at least one more game.

Should things get critical, and depending on the terms of the loans, we would be able to bring back Alan Mahon and Adam Kay after a month but it looks as though our hopes for the remainder of the season now rest with the twenty players currently at Turf Moor.
