Marlon Beresford - joins Barnet

Marlon has, today, been appointed goalkeeping coach at Barnet. He enjoyed three spells with the Clarets, the last of which came to an end at the end of the 2002/03 season. He later played for Bradford City, Barnsley, Luton and on loan at Oldham where he played his last game in November 2007.

He takes up his duties at Barnet immediately where first team goalkeeper Dean Brill is the player who took his place at Luton.

Meanwhile, Gareth Taylor has finally hung up his boots at the age of 38 and gone back to Manchester City, the club from whom Stan Ternent brought him to Burnley.

Taylor was playing for Wrexham and was playing mainly for the reserves. He'd made just one first team appearance this season. coming on as a substitute in their home defeat to Alfreton just over four weeks ago.

He was given an opportunity to go back to City and work as a coach on the club's policy to nurture young talent in Dubai.

Taylor said: "The pull was very big and obviously I understood I couldn't carry on playing for ever.

"It's the perfect stepping stone. I've worked at first-team level at Wrexham, which is great, and hopefully I see myself going to first-team level again one day, but for the time being this does give me a really good grounding."
