New managers in Championship as Dyche speculation increases

There were no shocks with the Pride Park and Griffin Park appointments with Paul Clement and Marinus Dijkhuizen landing the jobs.

Clement, son of former QPR full back Dave Clement, has worked at clubs such as Chelsea, Paris St. Germain and most recently as Carlo Ancelotti's assistant at Real Madrid. He's been constantly linked with jobs in England in the last 18 months or so and opted for Derby ahead of Sunderland.

Over at Brentford, Dutchman Dijkhuizen has landed the job and completes the restructuring that has seen Mark Warburton, David Weir and Frank McParland, who starts work at Burnley today, all leave the club.

It's just his second managerial job having been with SBV Excelsior since January of last year. He has taken fellow Dutchman Roy Hendriksen with him as assistant and they will work alongside joint directors of football Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles.

Meanwhile, and of more importance to us, is the continued speculation linking Sean Dyche with the vacancy at Sunderland created by the Dick Advocaat's decision not to continue at the Stadium of Light.

There seemed no apparent concern but that changed yesterday when he suddenly became firm favourite with the bookmakers. The local press in Sunderland reported it yesterday and the Lancashire Telegraph have joined in today.

He's currently 7/2 favourite for the job with Sky Bet, followed by Sam Allardyce, who has said he is taking a few months off, at 6/1 and former Vfb Stuttgart head coach Armin Veh at 8/1.

The Clarets' boss, who welcomed former colleague McParland to Turf Moor on Saturday, is currently away on holiday.

With today's appointments, all 24 of next season's Championship clubs now have permanent managers or head coaches. Only Karl Robinson (MK), Steve Evans (Rotherham) and Steve Bruce (Hull) have been in their jobs longer than Dyche has been at Burnley.
