New leaders in the Championship

Charlie Austin - leading goalscorer

The league really isn't showing any signs of settling down yet and the two teams with 100% records both lost them within a few miles of each other as Leicester finally secured their first home points with a win over Southampton and Burnley travelled to Derby and beat them.

I loved the reference to us being the only team not to have scored an away goal, used on BBC as Charlie Austin's header hit the post in the first half. Last season it was the constant reference to us being the only team not to have won away. That was understandable; it did take until Boxing Day and we had been the only team from mid-November, but after one away game, come on! They must have been desperate to find something to fill the commentary.

Anyway, we have scored now, so that's that. And we've won whilst there are still eight to do just that this season. For the record, Doncaster and Forest, with one, have scored the least number of away goals now.

One the subject of goals, you'll see below that the league's leading scorers currently have four goals and that includes Charlie Austin who added to his tally with Saturday's brace, the only player to score more than one in Saturday's fixtures.

West Ham had, without doubt, the best result of the weekend with their 4-1 win at Forest. The man with the umbrella really is under pressure from the Forest  fans now after a disappointing start. They managed to score an own goal too, one of two in the league with Southampton striker Rickie Lambert scoring Leicester's third and ultimate winner. Now there is a genuine goalscorer, can get them at both ends.

We didn't have any excitement such as a goalkeeper scoring. That sort of thing must only happen in the lower divisions but I bet Notts County's Stuart  Nelson won't want to recall it as he did a 'Billy O'Rourke' as Preston's Iain Turner's long kick bounced over him.

It's the international break now and we go into it with the likes of Leeds, Reading and Birmingham near the bottom of the league whilst Crystal Palace, considered to be a real relegation candidates, sit in the play off positions. We haven't even had a managerial casualty yet.

Has the league not settled down or is this how it's going to be?

The results and stats from the weekend are below along with the leading goalscorers, each club's disciplinary record, the highest and lowest attendances and the first set of fixtures following the break.
