New Colwyn Bay manager Hoskin fixes up Burnley friendly

Last updated : 13 May 2015 By Tony Scholes

Until January of this year, Colwyn Bay were playing in the Conference North under the management of Frank Sinclair who had Ade Akinbiyi alongside him as coach, but Frank resigned in January with Gus Williams taking over.

Williams was unable to turn things round and they were relegated at the end of the season, and four days he stood down from the role due to his Welsh Football Trust commitments.

They had been in the Conference North for four seasons and will be looking to bounce back at the first attempt with the task landing at the feet of former Claret Ash Hoskin who has been appointed as the new manager.

Hoskin joined the club as Williams' assistant for the last eight games of the season of which five were won and chairman Dave Titchiner didn't hesitate in giving Hoskin, who was development squad manager at Turf Moor in the 2010/11 season, the role.

Relegation will bring with it, as it does at that level, a big turnover of players, but Hoskin has said: "If we can keep the nucleus of that squad and bring in a few more lads with the same attitude then we have a great chance of achieving our aims."

He also reporterd that he's already confirmed his club's first pre-season friendly. That will be against a Burnley team, which I expect will be the development squad, on Friday 31st July with a 7:30 p.m. kick off at Colwyn Bay's Llanelian Road ground.

The fixture has now been included in the Friendlies/Key Dates page which can be found in Fixtures/Tables/Dates drop down within the Clarets Latest drop down menu.
