The 19-year-old Mitchell is now in his second year with the development squad at Burnley having previously spending two years with the first team as a scholar. He has competition from Danijel Nizic and has now taken this opportunity to go and play some first team football.
Sheffield, the world's oldest club, were our opponents two and a half weeks ago in a pre-season game but Conor missed the game through illness.
They are managed by former Claret Andy Kiwomya who confirmed his club had signed the goalkeeper on a work experience loan.
Mitchell said on Sunday: "It will serve as a great help to me this season, especially giving me vital competitive experience and game time on the pitch."
He joked: "The only downside is the two hour drive across from my home in Burnley, but in all honesty I would like to that the respective coaching teams from Burnley and Sheffield to give me the opportunity to further my career."
