McEveley teams up with Clough again

McEveley was with Derby from January 2007, when he was signed from his first club Blackburn by Billy Davies, until the end of the 2009/10 season when he moved to Barnsley on a free transfer.

It was during that time that Clough became Derby manager and the two have linked up again in League One.

Clough, who also signed experienced goalkeeper Iain Turner this morning, said of McEveley: "Jay is an experienced performer who we worked with for a couple of years at Derby.

"As we saw on Saturday when Bob Harris took a whack to the nose, we are short of cover in that area (left back). Jay provides that and can also play down the middle."

It's over ten years since he became the last player to transfer between Burnley and Blackburn when he joined us on loan. Unfortunately it was short lived. After making four substitute appearances in the league he got his first start at Mansfield in the cup.

Unfortunately he was substituted just before the hour after suffering a dislocated knee cap. He returned to Blackburn immediately.
