Marney takes first goal award of 2011

There were thirteen goals to choose from but it didn't just come first, Marney's goal polled not far short of half of the vote, 48.1% to be exact.

It was ahead of two Chris Eagles goals. HIs first against Burton took second place whilst his long range strike to take the score to 1-1 against Sheffield United, our first goal of the year on New Year's Day was second.

They polled 19.3% and 11.1% respectively and were with Marney's goal were the only three to take over 10% of the vote.

The Portsmouth winner now joins the other monthly winners from Eagles (August v Morecambe), Chris Iwelumo (September v Preston), Eagles (October v Barnsley), Mears (November v Derby) and Jay Rodriguez (December v Leeds).

Voting is currently underway for the Watford man of the match.

This will run until the end of tomorrow and will then be immediately followed by the Cardiff man of the match.
