March Goal of the Month - Time to vote

Last updated : 23 March 2011 By Tony Scholes
We played five league games during the month but failed to score in two of them; the defeats at home against Millwall and at Bristol City on the last two Saturdays.

The month had started well with a goal just three minutes into the first game. That came from Jay Rodriguez against Crystal Palace. The goal was a superb long range strike from Jay that proved to be the only goal of the game.

It didn't take us much longer to score in the next game either. This time it came on five minutes and was a debut goal for loan player Nathan Delfouneso against Hull.

The Aston Villa player hadn't even trained with the players prior to the game with the signing only going through that day, but he was on hand, inside the six yard box, to convert following a training ground routine from a right wing corner.

After the Millwall defeat there were two more goals from Jay against Coventry. The first was a superb chipped finish over the goalkeeper after taking a ball from Tyrone Mears and beating his defender.

From 1-0 up we went 2-1 down but Rodriguez got his and Burnley's second with a header that took a deflection from a defender on the way in.

For the second successive month Jay has three goals included in the vote. Jack Cork's winner at Preston took the February vote but will Jay make it this month for his second award of the season?

The voting will run until the end of Friday.
