Managerial change no 2 - McClaren gone at Forest

"You're getting sacked in the morning," cried the Burnley fans last week as we hit Forest for five on a night when McClaren spent most of the half time interval sat in the visitor's dug out at Turf Moor.

Had he left the following day it would not have come as a major surprise but instead they dispensed with the services of David Pleat who was heading the transfer committee. That looked to have ensured a longer stay for the former England boss McClaren who replaced Billy Davies in June.

However, they turned a win into defeat today as they conceded three late goals against Birmingham and with them sat just one point above the drop zone he took the decision to resign.

"He has left the club without compensation, nor will he be seeking any," Forest confirmed and they also reported that chairman Nigel Doughty will stand down at the end of the season although will continue to support the club financially.

They report that the search for a new chairman and a new manager will commence immediately.
