Madejski Stadium – how to get there

Last updated : 26 August 2002 By Tony Scholes

Many Clarets fans got caught up in traffic problems on their way to Wolves and things are not expected to be much better tomorrow. The worst of the road works are between Junctions 20 and 18 and it is best to avoid these if possible. Other than that it should be almost trouble free with no major road works elsewhere on the route.

Reading’s Madejski Stadium is easy to reach by road and is accessible from Junction 11 on the M4. On leaving the motorway take the A33 Reading Relief Road north bound, this is in the direction of Reading, and the stadium is on the left hand side.

Parking is limited and even more so for midweek games and a word of warning, do not park on the A33. The car parks cost £4 but the park and walk facilities are unavailable for non Saturday games.

For those travelling by train there is a regular bus service from the station on the 79 service. They depart every five minutes from 6 to 7:25 p.m. and return after the game from 9:45 to 10:25 p.m.

If you are looking for somewhere to have a drink before the game, or after or even both, then Clarets Mad would recommend you visit the London Clarets site for more details. We see no point in making recommendations when our friends from London can be considered experts on this subject.

Wherever you are travelling from have a safe journey and I’ll see you there.
