Michael Duff - awaiting the results of his scan
McCann was stretchered off at Bristol City a week last Saturday with a hamstring injury and Cotterill has confirmed today that he won't return to action until after the international break. Duff meanwhile has had a scan today and the club await news although it is not looking very positive.

Cotterill said today on Duff: "We don't know the extent of the injury at this stage and won't until very late Monday at the earliest or, more than likely Tuesday. Michael was very sore on Saturday and on Sunday he was very swollen when we looked at him. He's had a scan today and he had an appointment with a specialist.

"He's hurt, we know that and it is evident he has done knee ligaments. I think the best we can hope for is that it is going to be damage to his lateral ligament. We are just hoping it is not the big ligament, like his cruciate. That's what we are all waiting with baited breath for, including Michael."

Cotterill has confirmed that he's looking to strengthen his squad because of these two injuries. "I've tried to get in a couple already. We have looked at maybe another midfielder and potentially bringing in another full back.

"The only think is the midfielder might be a month away from his own fitness, which we didn't know about. The other could be a straight replacement for Michael to keep Graham Alexander in midfield where he has been a revelation.

"That would be the easy way of doing it. However, it all depends on what comes first. If the potential signing of a full back comes first then we can look at Graham moving back into the midfield slot."
