Burnley gaffer Sean Dyche has given the nod to allow Burnley and Liverpool to switch their home and away fixtures to accomodate any last minute wrinkles in the Anfield Stadium redevelopment.

Burnley will now have two consecutive home fixtures at the beginning of the season after reaching an agreement with Liverpool to switch their Premier League clash on August 20.

Construction work to renovate the Main Stand at Anfield is underway this summer and Liverpool requested the game to be played at Turf Moor instead.

It is understood Clarets' Chief Executive Dave Baldwin with the blessing of Burnley manager Sean Dyche have agreed for the change of venue.

It appears Burnley are keen to work congruently with their Merseyside rivals and agreed to the proposal as a gesture of goodwill, with the two clubs striving to build a close relationship.

The Clarets now have two home matches on the bounce at the start of the new campaign. There may however be negative consequences down the line when Burnley visit Anfield  on March 10, 2017.

The switch will now mean the Clarets will face seven weeks with only one home league fixture in February and March; normally a critical stage of the season, just prior to the campaign run-in.

Burnley entertain Chelsea on the 11th February with Watford, Hull, Swansea, Liverpool and Sunderland all contributing to an an interesting travel itineray.

We have to play them all at some time! (TEC).
