Linington will blow last Turf Moor whistle of the season

It's only a few short weeks since Linington last refereed us and he caused something of a stir, upsetting Birmingham boss Lee Clark who accused him of mocking his captain Paul Robinson.

Initially Clark planned a formal complaint but decided against it after having what he described as 'good dialogue' with the referees' organisation. "I spoke to the referees' boss who, in turn, spoke to the referee," Clarke confirmed.

"We spoke with the assessor also. We found out what route we had to take and we did that. We filed our report and we have had conversations with all parties. We are happy with how things have panned out."

He had a poor game all round that night but this was probably the first poor game he has had in his four games refereeing Burnley as his RATE THE REF rating of 60.25 out of 100 would suggest, a rating that currently seems him in 43rd place in the table.

This season he's refereed 35 games and 13 of them have been in the Championship. He's yellow carded 105 players in those games of which 48 were home team players and 57 were away team players.

He's also sent off seven players with only one of them at Championship level. That was Blackburn's Grant Hanley in their 2-2 draw at Millwall but it was a red card successfully appealed by Blackburn.

Linington's last game was the Championship game between QPR and Watford at Loftus Road on Easter Monday. QPR won the game 2-1 and had former Claret Charlie Austin yellow carded. Albert Riera, Almen Abdi and Mathias Renegie of Watford also received yellow cards.

The assistant referees tomorrow are Robert Jones (Merseyside) and David Richardson (West Yorkshire). The fourth official is David Webb (County Durham) whose last Burnley game was our first win of the season against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
