Lafferty wins eleventh cap

It's Lafferty's first appearance for his country in almost ten months since he featured in a friendly against Chile in Valparaiso back in early June last year.

Playing virtually no first team football, he was left out of the last two squads, but playing in the Championship for Rotherham got him this late call up and he went straight into the team.

He played the full ninety minutes in a game that looked to be heading for a 0-0 draw Ipswich's Christophe Berra scored the winner on 85 minutes for the Scots.

Lafferty was joined in the Northern Ireland side by former Burnley team mate Chris Baird. He was making his 70th appearance and played the first 58 minutes of the game before being replaced by Lee Hodson whilst in the opposition was another former Claret in Steven Fletcher who was replaced by Jordan Rhodes just past the hour.

Northern Ireland's Kyle Lafferty, who is currently playing his football with Turkish club Caykur Rizespor, was an unused substitute.

With the friendly played, Lafferty and the Northern Ireland squad will now return home for the Euro qualifier against Finland at Windsor Park on Sunday.

The next Burnley players who could be involved for their country are Danny Ings and Michael Keane who are both with the England under-21 squad. They are currently in Prague for a friendly against Czech Republic on Friday.

The INTERNATIONALS feature has been updated to reflect the three caps won by Lafferty, Baird and Fletcher this evening.
