In confirming the nomination, the league said of our current leading goalscorer: "The ball playing young defender came of age in August. Thrust into a regular starting role, Keane's reading of the game has impressed in a solid back line, while his three headed goals accounted for half his team's tally in the month."
He's been nominated alongside Ryan Fraser, who is currently on loan at Ipswich from Bournemouth, Stephen Gleeson of Birmingham and Brighton's Kazenga LuaLua.
Meanwhile Chris Ramsey (QPR), Steve Bruce (Hull), Mick McCarthy (Ipswich) and Chris Hughton (Brighton) have been nominated for the Manager of the Month Award.
