Jones is referee

Last updated : 23 October 2007 By Tony Scholes
Jones has proved to be a consistent referee this season, he's consistently got his cards out of his pocket and to date in just 37 games he's handed out no fewer than 140 yellow cards and has recently reached double figures with red cards.

The yellow cards have been evenly distributed, 63 of them have gone to home team players and 71 to away team players, whilst only two of the ten red cards have gone to home players. He sent off our former loan player Bradley Orr earlier in the season after an amazing incident in which Orr head butted his own team mate Louis Carey. The last time Jones pulled the red card out of his pocket it was for Frank Sinclair in Huddersfield's 0-0 draw at Brighton.

He's over fussy and has had some bad games over the years with us, but the one moment he'll always be remembered for at Turf Moor will be sending off Blackburn's Craig Hignett whilst on loan at Coventry. For giving us that wonderful moment I could forgive him most things.

He will be assisted tonight by Mick McDonough (Tyne & Wear) and Alan Parker (Derbyshire) and the fourth official will be Football League referee Graham Salisbury (Lancashire).
