Jimmy, I am sure, will say he wonders what all the fuss is about, but he'll be absolutely delighted to have had this honour bestowed on him just over a week ahead of his 80th birthday.
Anyone who was at either of the Clarets Mad dinners that Jimmy attended will know just what a wonderful ambassador he is for the club and this is an honour that, I believe, is so richly deserved.
He becomes the first club president since the passing of Doctor David Iven at the end of December 2007 and the club will formally hold a Presidential dinner when he will formally take up the ambassadorial role.
We'll be looking at Jimmy and his Burnley career in some more depth next week on the occasion of his 80th birthday but for now a message of congratulations from Clarets Mad.
