So it is a massive congratulations today from myself and I'm sure every Claret with the news that Jay Rodriguez has been called up for the England Under-21 squad for next week's friendly against Italy.

Jay will be accompanied by Jack Cork in the squad for the game that will be played at the Stadio Carlo Castellani, home of Empoli who play their football in Serie B in Italy.

Manager Eddie Howe said on hearing the news: "Congratulations to Jay on his international call up. Everyone here is excited about the potential Jay possesses in abundance and his call up is rich reward for all his hard work.

"I am sure, given the chance, he will be a credit to himself and Burnley Football Club."

To add to that, David Edgar, currently out on loan at Swansea, has received another call up for Canada for a friendly against Greece. He is still to make his full international debut.

And Alex MacDonald, who is with Inverness Caledonian Thistle until the end of the season, is again in the Scotland Under-21 squad for a training camp next week.
